Teaching Philosophy

 We need to rethink the way we educate students. We cannot fully predict what the future will look like and what new careers our students will have, but we can change how we teach to give students the skills to meet the challenges that lie ahead.

Every student wants to learn, but we often forget that our students are individuals, with individual challenges and each learning a little bit differently. There is no one-size-fits-all approach that can give every student the education they deserve. Teaching is building relationships and giving students the skills and environment to be able to learn.

Students often become frustrated when they do not see a connection between what is being taught and the “real world.” By designing lessons and activities around real-world situations, and showing the application in the real word, the lesson becomes meaningful for the student.

We are preparing students for jobs and careers that don’t exist yet. How can we do that if we are teaching the same way that we were taught in school? We have to shift our focus to helping students develop that critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to be able to tackle any challenge.
